Terms of Use

The terms for using Spark

Short on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you rely on it.

Beta version · Last updated 4 November 2026 · Version 2026-11-04-beta

1. The service, and the beta

Spark is an AI study tutor. It asks questions and gives hints so you work problems out yourself; it is built not to hand over finished answers. By creating an account or using Spark you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Notice.

Spark is in a free public beta. It is provided as it is, without any promise that it will be available, accurate or free of errors. Features, limits and these terms may change, and we may pause or end the beta. No payment is taken during the beta.

2. What the AI can get wrong

The tutor is an AI, not a person. It can misread a question, make a mathematical or factual mistake, or judge your work wrongly, and its progress estimates are estimates. Check anything important with your teacher.

Spark is not a substitute for your teachers or school, and it does not give medical, legal, financial or counselling advice.

3. Spark is not for emergencies

Nobody watches sessions as they happen. If you are in danger, or thinking about hurting yourself, stop and talk to a trusted adult now — a parent or carer, a teacher or a school counsellor. In Singapore you can also call:

  • Samaritans of Singapore (SOS), 24 hours: 1767
  • Tinkle Friend (for primary school children): 1800-274-4788
  • Emergency: 995 (ambulance or fire) or 999 (police)

4. Accounts, ages and parents

Use your own account and keep access to your email secure. Tell us your age honestly when you sign up.

If you are under 13, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms and the Privacy Notice before you use Spark, and is responsible for your use of it. Parents and guardians who link to a student account agree to use what they see only to support that student.

5. Using Spark fairly

Please do not:

  • use Spark during a test, exam or graded assessment, or to hand in work that is not your own;
  • send anything abusive, sexual, hateful or meant to harm someone;
  • upload other people’s personal information, or material you have no right to share;
  • try to break, overload, scrape or get around the limits and safety checks of the service;
  • use someone else’s account, or let a guardian link code be used by someone who is not your guardian.

We may limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, or to keep other users safe.

6. Your work

What you write, draw and upload stays yours. You let us store and process it, and send it to the providers named in the Privacy Notice, only to run Spark for you and any guardian you link. You can delete a session or your whole account at any time from Account and data.

7. Responsibility

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for loss that comes from relying on Spark’s replies or from the service being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Singapore law that cannot be limited.

8. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Questions, problems or reports about a reply: hello@sparkthetutor.com, or see Contact.
